What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?

Do you remember when you were little and you were asked "What do you want to be when you grow up?" How many of us pursued those answers we gave or did we just make due with whatever came our way. We put aside our childhood ideas and dreams and settled with just getting by. We just conformed to what society expected us to do and somewhere along the way we decided this is it, there is nothing more for me. This is as far as I can go and became numb to all this world has to offer.

There are so many things out there that tell you "no you can't", "you are not qualified", "that is not how society works". You are measured in so many ways that you become more concerned about what others think and how they see you. You forget about yourself. Then, when you are asked "What do you want?" you draw a blank or immediately look around to see what everyone else is doing.

When was the last time you did something you were passionate about, something that sent shivers down your spine, made you smile so big that you couldn't hide it? It may seem like an impossible task but don't wait and expect someone to do it for you. You may end up waiting all your life. Time will not wait for you and there may never be the perfect moment. The world keeps happening and excuses are so easy to come by. The world can be a big scary place but it is the only one we have and we all only have one go around to live life to our fullest potential. Some are more frightened to succeed than they are to fail. There is a quote by Erin Hanson that I like:

"There is freedom waiting for you,

On the breezes of the sky,

And you may ask 'What if I fall?'

Oh but my darling, what if you fly?"

What if you fly?

What if you fly?

Standing on the edge of what used to be with everything in front of me. All I have to do is take that first step. Move forward. Stop being stuck. Take that leap and see just how high I can fly!
